However, Ford made the decision to quit the market of the States and as a consequence, the beautiful car featured here won’t be available to American customers. This is a shame, as automobiles with tiny grilles are uncommon these days. Nikita Chuiko via Kolesa.ru gives us a glimpse of the near future of the Blue Oval creating front and rear renderings of spy photos to show the car which looks great from all angles. The changes aren’t a major one by any means however it’s possible that the 2022 Focus is a mid-cycle refresh to the current model. However, these renderings showcase an attractive lower fascia that borrows heavily from the currently-running Focus ST. If this treatment is a reality for the car remains to be seen however, we do know that the possibility of a minor headlight overhaul is in the works.
On the rear, the rendering shows taillights that have been redesigned and are smaller. The lower fascia is also getting an imagined update, with trapezoid exhaust finishes on both ends. The redesign is real since spy shots of the real car reveal camouflaged taillights, but the fascia remains visible and remains the same as the model currently in use. The renderings do not give an inside view however, sources tell us that we can expect a bigger infotainment screen, along with other minor changes.

Can Ford ever be able to bring Focus return to the US market? We asked this question one month ago and the answer would largely be no. But then we found out that the EcoSport will be leaving the US market by 2022. That puts Ford in the tense situation of not having lower-cost efficient, fuel-efficient options available to buyers, save for the as-yet untested Maverick pickup. Even so, a base model hybrid will cost at around the mid-$20,000 mark and is likely to be extremely difficult to locate in the open.
After EcoSport’s departure, Ford’s cheapest car that’s not an SUV is the Escape priced at $25,555 including the destination costs. In addition, Chevrolet offers Spark, Trailblazer, Trax, Equinox, and Malibu at a lower price. Additionally, there are Japanese as well as Korean automakers that offer attractive, low-cost cars and hatchbacks that have modest options that cost around the $20k mark. If Ford wants to draw in low-cost, entry-level car buyers, a basic Focus or Fiesta appears to be almost essential in the present.
