2022 Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner – If you’re still mourning the mighty Bentley Mulsanne’s sunsetting–the huge flagship luxury sedan is no more–perhaps your grief may be assuaged by the new Mulliner-specification Flying Spur. Sure, the Flying Spur was positioned beneath the Mulsanne when the Mulsanne was still part of Bentley’s lineup, but it’s not like the Flying Spur is a Honda Civic by comparison. And the Mulliner coachbuilt upgrades ensure the Flying Spur is now the ultimate four-door Bentley you can buy.
2022 Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner Redesign
The Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner treatment is available with any of Spur’s three powertrain options, so take your pick: A twin-turbo V-8, twin-turbo W-12, or the new-for-2022 hybridized V-6. No matter which motivator you go with, you’ll receive 22-inch Mulliner-exclusive wheels. They have those nifty little “self-leveling wheel caps” that keep the “B” vertical and legible as the car rolls along. A chrome grille with a “double diamond” pattern, special Mulliner-patterned fender vents, and satin silver door mirror caps add subtle flash to the exterior. The hood ornament can be electronically retracted into the hood or illuminated when raised. Illumination also hits the door sill plates, which one must raise a fine loafer or heel over to reach the specially piped and embroidered leather seats and Mulliner-spec deep-pile carpeting.
As you might expect, the “Mulliner Specification” option available on lesser Flying Spurs is baked into the full-on Mulliner from the get-go, so the same quilted leather seat treatment, in which each of those diamonds–like one quilt–requires 712 stitches. That’s a lot of stitches. For a dash of old-world charm, the rear seats get special wood veneer Mulliner tray tables that deploy electrically and “self-level” so that whatever you set on their leather-topped surface won’t topple onto your fancy carpet.
2022 Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner Rumors
Buyers can let their imaginations run wild with color combinations inside and out, or they can choose from among several “curated interiors” on offer. One is named “Ascot,” like the fancy small scarf thing some wealthy people wear instead of a regular tie. Others are named “Flare” and “Sirius.” We say pick your combo if only to take advantage of the dizzying array of choices and make your Flying Spur your own.
Every customer gets the keys to their new Mulliner in a “Mulliner-branded handcrafted presentation box” that is color-matched to their ride’s interior. The keys themselves also come wrapped in leather. Those keys might not fire up a Mulsanne, but if you’re in the market for a large, comfortable, and occasionally sporting super-luxurious sedan, the Flying Spur Mulliner is the next best thing.
